Uses of a Half Moon Table

One of the more functional types of tables that you might place in your home is the half moon table. This is a small table, usually semicircular in shape that sits against the wall or another piece of furniture providing uncomplicated warehouse or shelf space. Their size and shape make them the excellent spot for placing small ornamental items that you want to sit on display.

Not surprisingly, the name of these tables is highly suggestive of what they look like but that doesn't mean that they all look the same. Some may be plain and understated while others may be highly ornamental complementing the other furniture pieces colse to the home.

They are available in a wide range of materials such as marble, glass, wrought iron, wood or a compound of any of these materials and more. This allows the table to be unmistakably used as a complementary piece to the rest of the furniture in the room.

A coarse place to find a half moon table is in the hallway of the house as you walk in the front door. This may be the place where the homeowners may place their keys as they walk in the door, it may be sitting underneath a mirror or keeping a small table lamp. As one of the first things a guest sees as they walk in the house, it's foremost that it makes a good impression and acts as a bit of a guide as to what furniture style can be expected elsewhere.

Another coarse use for the half moon table is in the dining room as a display table set off to the side of the dining table. It may serve as a place where house photographs are displayed or, alternatively, it might be a handy spot where a bottle of wine sits before it is presented to the table during dinner.

Used in the lounge room you would be most likely to find a couple of half moon tables located at whether end of a sofa where they might act as end tables. They may be given a more mundane job such as keeping the television guide or the remote control so that they are within easy reach of the someone sitting on the sofa.

As well as providing a small space allowing display items to be located on top, half moon tables are also constructed with drawers and some even have cupboard space below the table-top. This adds functionality to the ornamental features already described.
