A slag lamp is a lamp made from slag glass. Slag glass is extra because it incorporates something unique in its make up; slag is added to the molten glass to give it a unique color. Slag is the waste product from metal foundries and was traditionally only thrown away as waste. The only irregularity was the slag from copper foundries that was used to make attractive items in the past because it had a nice coloring to it.

This slag contains a whole of minerals that are thought about impurities when mixed with the metal. For example copper would be thought about an impurity when mixed with iron, while iron would be thought about an impurity when mixed with copper. Both are impurities when mixed with glass and will also make the glass less hard and more brittle. This is any way a small price to pay for the dissimilar effects that you can give to glass by adding these impurities. For example, most people do not know that crystal glass is of course obtained by mixing lead in glass. The lead gives the glass a higher refractive index while also production it capable of being polished to a high degree. In the same way dissimilar minerals are mixed into glass to give it a blue, pink, brown or any other color that you want.
Slag glass is dissimilar in that the minerals are not calculated when they are mixed. The slag from the foundries are powered and mixed in with the molten glass which gives the glass a sort of milky look. It also gives it streaks and swirls and these patterns are near impossible to imitate in any other way; like imitating the grains on wood. When this glass is used to make lamps these lamps are called slag lamps. There is no discrepancy between any other lamp and a slag lamp other than for this, but because slag glass is usually only handmade, these lamps are very expensive. Even a straightforward table lamp can cost you more than 00. There are cheaper imitations, but it is better to stay away from them because they look nothing like the original. These lamps are also not very common, so go online and check them out, you'll find something that will request for retrial to you; definitely.
